Back-Cleaned Chain Rake Bar Screen

Model BCS

PRODUCT RESOURCE MATERIALS

This Mechanical Bar Screen, also known as a Trash Rack, is capable of handling the harshest course screen conditions. This vertical bar screen is designed with clear openings and large tooth rakes to trap timbers and heavy problem-causing debris, protecting fine bar screens, valves, pumps and other downstream equipment.

The PRO-GUARD Trash Rack is typically installed in a vertical orientation making it suitable for confined spaces; small footprints and deep channel lift station applications. The bar rack is cleaned from the back (downstream) side. This downstream assembly places the bar rack in front of the lower sprockets, creating a protection barrier between sprockets and damaging foreign materials.

  • Vertical heavy duty Bar Screen (trash rack) without side frames

  • Typically applies to deep lift stations for pump protection

  • Double chains carrying long toothed rakes to engage in open-end bar rack at channel bottom

  • Lower sprockets protected by preceding bar rack

  • Lower stub shafts with special submersible bearings

  • Materials in all 300 series SS or painted carbon steel

OPERATION PRINCIPLES

Untreated waste or storm water is received from the upstream side of the bar rack. Double chains carry long tooth rakes to the channel bottom where they engage a flexibly mounted bar rack. The debris is removed, caught by the long tooth rakes that are raised above the operating floor. When the rake reaches the wiper assembly, an ejector is activated that discharges the debris for further handling.
